Heart Transplant Survivor, 12, Cooks Crab Cakes with Top Chef

​Twelve-year-old heart transplant survivor, Michael Anzalone, recently fulfilled his Make-A-Wish dream by crafting crab cakes alongside renowned chef Robert Wiedmaier at Marcel’s in Washington, D.C. Diagnosed with a congenital heart defect at birth, Michael underwent a life-saving heart transplant at just 2 months old. His passion for cooking, especially seafood, led him to this unique culinary experience. Chef Wiedmaier guided Michael through the process of preparing crab cakes, sharing his expertise and love for the dish. Michael’s mother, Jennifer Anzalone, expressed gratitude for the opportunity, noting it as a positive milestone in Michael’s health journey. The event not only highlighted Michael’s resilience but also underscored the impactful work of the Make-A-Wish Foundation in granting wishes that bring joy and inspiration to children facing critical illnesses.​
