If you’re a pet owner, there’s probably one thing you dread about holidays like New Year’s Eve or the Fourth of July. Fireworks scare pets and wildlife and stress them out.

The town of Collecchio in the Parma region of Italy mandates only quiet celebrations in the sky. Setti Fireworks, a company based out of Genova, Italy, creates the soundproof firecrackers (these fireworks aren’t technically 100% sound-free but they’re a much quieter alternative to traditional varieties). Not only does the invention of silent fireworks protect dogs, cats, and other house pets from a terrorizing evening, but farm animals and wildlife are also spared the thunderous booms that shake confused creatures to the core.
