Brace yourself — a new “miracle” drug that could regrow your own teeth is in the works.

A team of scientists in Japan is working to make their tooth-growing drug a reality in the near future. Following recent promising research in animals, the group is planning to conduct small-scale human trials of the drug starting next year.

“The idea of growing new teeth is every dentist’s dream. I’ve been working on this since I was a graduate student.” Katsu Takahashi, the team’s lead researcher said.

The innovative new medicine helps treat people who don’t have a full set of adult teeth due to “congenital factors,” and researchers say it could be available for public use in a few years.
