After the unimaginable success of #TeamTress , content creators MrBeast and Mark Rober are coming together to clean the world’s dirtiest beaches and oceans with their new campaign, #TeamSeas .
Pollution from bottles, bags, straws, and abandoned fishing gear is a health crisis for our entire planet. And we have an opportunity to do something about it.
The YouTubers’ philanthropic initiative aims at removing 30 million pounds of trash from oceans, rivers, and beaches by raising $30 million by the end of 2021 (for every dollar, 1 pound of trash will be removed).
The funds raised will go to two organizations, split equally: The Ocean Cleanup and Ocean Conservancy. Half the money raised will go toward volunteer beach-cleanup programs through Ocean Conservancy; the other half will fund will Ocean Cleanup’s “50-ton trash-eating robot” barges that collect garbage in rivers that flow into oceans.
TeamSeas will work with local authorities to make sure collected trash is properly disposed of and, where local facilities exist, they’ll recycle all accepted materials.
Every pound, every dollar and every action matter.
