To say 2020 has been a year full of disappointments is an understatement, but New Zealand is hoping to turn those sour lemons into sweet lemonade just in time for the beginning of 2021.

From cancelled weddings and postponed vacation plans to job furloughs and more, Tourism New Zealand wants people from around the globe to share their misfortunes of 2020 online. For every disappointment shared, consumers are invited to put a positive spin on their situation by donating a tree in the Forest of Hope.

This new forest of native trees will represent hope and regrowth for the new year ahead.

Tourism New Zealand has teamed up with Trees That Count, a New Zealand conservation charity, to launch the Forest of Hope initiative, which will plant the trees in Queenstown and Northland.
